This guide will assist you with installing the VMWare Horizon Client on a Mac OS computer. Please make sure that you are connected to the Internet, as you will be required to download the client.

  • If a server certificate is signed by a CA that is not trusted by computers that run Horizon Client for Mac OS X, you can configure these computers to trust the root and intermediate certificates. You must distribute the root certificate and all intermediate certificates in the trust chain to the client computers.
  • If you plan to use the RDP display protocol to connect to a remote desktop, verify that the Mac client system has Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac from Microsoft, version 2.0 or later installed. Verify that you have the URL for a download page that contains the Horizon Client installer.
  • Horizon Client for Mac OS X Logs. Log files can help troubleshoot issues with installation, display protocol, and various feature components. You can create a configuration file to configure the verbosity level. Horizon Client generates log files in the /Library/Logs/VMware Horizon Client directory on the Mac client.

  2. Locate the VMWare Horizon Client for Mac and select Go to Downloads.
  3. Select Downloads.
  4. Locate the downloaded .dmg file; double-click to begin the installation.
  5. Move the VMWare Horizon Client to the folder.
  6. If prompted, select Open. The VMWare Horizon Client should not be available on your machine
  7. Once your machine is rebooted, double-click the VMWare Horizon Client shortcut. (If you do not see a shortcut, you will find the application listed in your Programs.)
  8. Select Add Server and enter the server address horizon.santarosa.edu. Click Connect.
  9. Log in using your SRJC Login and Password, then click Login.
  10. Once your connection is established, you will be able to use and access available software.
